The Idaho PTA Executive Board gathered in downtown Boise for a dynamic and energizing weekend of training, planning, and purpose-driven connection. With a strong start to the 2025–2026 term, this event marked a powerful leadership transition and a bold new chapter for statewide PTA service.
🌟 Highlights from the Weekend
👥 Friday, July 25
Leaders arrived at The Hampton in downtown Boise and kicked off the weekend with a warm welcome by President Jamie Braithwaite. A group dinner at Fork sparked rich dialogue, led by Director of Innovation & Connection Shelly Smede, focused on connection and vision.
Later that evening, Jamie Braithwaite, Idaho PTA President, led a CliftonStrengths training session emphasizing “Name it, Claim it, Aim it” and the four leadership domains: Executing, Influencing, Relationship Building, and Strategic Thinking. The team began mapping their strengths using the Idaho PTA Team Grid, and focused discussion on the inspired Strengths-Based Parenting book and framework.
📋 Saturday, July 26
The day began with breakfast and reflective conversation, followed by a full day of training at the Idaho PTA office, where Jamie Braithwaite officially welcomed the board and set the tone for the year.
Key discussions and actions included:
Clarifying Executive Board roles and responsibilities
Reviewing and approving the transition from traditional PTA regions to 4 geographic area regions, each with represented board leadership
Strengthening Idaho PTA’s guiding principles and setting aligned priorities for 2025–2026
Reviewing bylaws, financial systems, nonprofit compliance, and upcoming programs—including legislation and digital safety
Introducing calendar milestones and action steps for the coming year
The board also discussed engagement strategies tied to books such as Radical Candor, upcoming participation in the Dignity Index Conference (October in Salt Lake City), and ideas to elevate statewide communication.
🗺 Celebrating the Past, Shaping the Future
The event concluded with a visit to the Idaho State Archives to celebrate 120 years of Idaho PTA history and rediscover our “Idaho Voice.” Leaders explored past newsletters and archival treasures that reaffirmed PTA’s legacy of advocacy and connection.

With renewed purpose and strategic alignment, the Idaho PTA Executive Committee is ready to serve, support, and strengthen local units across the state. This weekend reinforced one powerful truth: together, we lead better.
